Why People Who Work Remotely Are Happier And More Productive

work remotely, be happy

Working remotely is a less traditional, out-of-the-box concept that more people are doing, especially during this time.  Many say that people who work remotely tend to be happier and more productive. Why?

Here are some reasons happiness and productivity increase in people working from home.

No Workplace Drama

Having to socially maneuver through workplace drama can take a toll on a person’s productivity. If your coworkers are being disruptive, it is exceedingly difficult to do your work. It is also challenging to work if you have to constantly think about office politics and drama.

When a person is working remotely, he does not have to worry about this. All he must worry about is having enough motivation to do the work. Furthermore, the job becomes about doing the job—not about pleasing the coworker sitting next to you who is a loose cannon.

For many people, workplace social dynamics is a huge and unnecessary cause of stress. Once you cut workplace social dynamics out of the equation, your job could become easier.

Ability to Set Time Aside

People who work remotely are also happier and more productive because they can choose when and where they can work. In our current society, not having an acceptable work-life balance is a huge problem.

Many people miss out on beautiful things that they could be doing in their lives just because they must adhere to a rigid schedule.

This is especially a problem when you factor time with family and friends into the equation. Work tears many people away from their friends and relatives and makes it hard to make time for important events.

Ability to Be Where They Want to Be

The great thing about working remotely is that you can be wherever you want to be, whenever. If you want to stay home, you can stay home. If you want to live in a specific locale, you can live there. You do not have to physically be somewhere that you don’t like. Being in a place where you do not want to be can take a huge toll on your psyche.

Cutting Out Commute Time

The beauty of working remotely is that you can cut out the commute time that you would spend going to work. Long commutes can drain people of their time and energy. This results in less time and energy to do things that really matter to them in their personal live. Also, long commutes can induce angst and feel like a waste of time.

A person who cuts out long commutes may have time to nurture relationships with his/her family and friends.

Tending to Friends and Family

Working remotely is family-friendly because it allows people to spend more time around their loved ones. This is especially true for parents who are juggling work with parenting. The need for childcare is huge, and it is notoriously expensive. Many people cannot afford childcare. Those who can afford childcare find that large chunks of their salaries are being used for it. Working remotely helps parents to save on childcare because they can be present with their children.

The same is true for elderly and disabled relatives. Working remotely helps people to be around their elders and disabled relatives so that they can take care of them.

It is also a problem that people cannot spend enough time around their loved ones. Working remotely helps people to spend quality time with their family members and friends.

In conclusion, working remotely increases a person’s productivity and happiness because it cuts out workplace drama, and allows people to spend more time with their loved ones. If you’ve been thinking about switching to a work from home set-up, now’s a great time to do it!
