Staying Productive While In Quarantine

Staying Productive While In Quarantine

As we try to flatten the curve, many of us are staying home for the time being. You may be asking yourself, “how can I stay productive during this time?”

Because many of us spend most of our day outside our homes, it can be quite disorienting to suddenly be thrust into a situation where you cannot leave it. However, there are several things you can do to be productive. So roll up your sleeves, drink your coffee, and get started!

Do It Yourself Projects

There is no time like the present for that long list of projects you have been telling yourself you would do. Now, you don’t have any excuse not to do them. Not only are you staying home, but you also have time in your hands! And guess what? The more time you spend at home, the more projects you will find to do.

Need some extra equipment to complete a project? Many businesses are offering free, contact-less delivery.

Get Your Green Thumb Out

Do you live in a climate that allows you to go outside your backyard and plant? Now the perfect time to make use of your green thumb!

Get creative and build a vegetable garden or plant flowers to boost your mood.

Not have enough space for gardening? Bring the outdoors inside! A small herb garden is a simple project that could really help bring your cooking to the next level.

These projects are a great way to bring down your grocery bill just a little bit, give you something to do each day, and are a great way to get your kids involved in doing something productive as well.

Take A Tour

Many museums around the world temporarily closed their doors. Fortunately, some of them offer virtual tours.

All you need to do is hop online and search around, there is something for everyone. This is a great way to help the kids learn a little something while staying home.

Got kids? Disney is also offering free virtual experiences for many of their amusement park rides.

Go To School

While you may not be able to physically go to school, you can always take an online course! You can find schools offering several free courses. Who knows, you may find a course you never knew you were interested in! This is the perfect time to learn something new that you never had the time for in the past.

Bring the Gym Home

With many workouts available for free with no equipment required, there is no excuse not to work out a little frustration while you work up a sweat. The best part is you can learn the workout at your own pace without being embarrassed trying to keep up with others around you who may be more skilled.

Get Cooking

Now is the perfect time to try out a new recipe with all this extra time you suddenly find yourself with. Have one you’ve been meaning to try? Pull it out and get going! Are you new to the world of cooking? Find an easy recipe and try it out, you may find you enjoy it more than you think you will.

Meditate

Meditation can be a great way to reduce stress levels and bring a sense of peace and calming into our otherwise hectic lives.

Staying home during the quarantine could lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and depression. Meditation is an excellent way to combat those feelings. Find a quiet space in your house, light a candle, and put on some relaxing music. Drawing in a coloring book during this time can be a great way to clear your mind.

Spend Time With Your Family

Play a board game, have a movie marathon, have fun dressing up in silly costumes, or take a walk. Whatever you choose to do, remember to cut loose and have fun. After all, your children are going through this time too, and they may not know how to handle it. Let them remember it as a time when mommy and daddy played more. Give them extra snacks, stay up with them past their bedtime.

While it may not always be easy to stay home, keeping productive will help you get through this time. Oh, remember to wash your hands often and stay safe!
